MAY 2017’S FIRST THURSDAY FEATURES ART, CHARITY, AND MUSIC

May 2, 2017

May 2017’s First Thursday will be filled with delicious bites, tasty drinks, lively music, and the chance to view unique art. First Thursday in downtown Boise is one of our favorite local events. Every first Thursday of the month, downtown businesses open their doors to entice Boiseans into learning more and trying new things.

Boise State Graphic Design Senior Portfolio Show 2017
Stop by Jack’s Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) from 6pm to 9pm for Typeaux Graphic, a graphic design show where 16 Boise State students will get to demonstrate their skills.

An Evening with David James Duncan
While you’re checking out the artwork at JUMP, you can swing by the Pioneer Room at 7pm to hear a talk from author David James Duncan. Duncan’s book, “The River Why,” was selected for the community wide reading project: 2017 Read Me Treasure Valley. You can also participate in numerous activities, such as a fly fishing demonstration, and view the artwork of local river artists from 5pm to 9pm.

Tour The Old Assay Office
Step back into the past and take a tour of the Old Assay Office with the Idaho Archaeology & Historic Preservation Month and Idaho State Historical Society. Construction on the beautiful building began in 1870, and it functioned as the assay office until 1933. Tours will take place from 5pm to 9pm.

Idaho Gives Silent Auction at Mixed Greens
Join Mixed Greens from now until First Thursday for a silent auction benefiting the Boise Bicycle Project and Idaho Humane Society. On Thursday night, come to Mixed Greens to celebrate Idaho Gives day with Wallace Brewing Company providing tastings of Huckleberry Shandy and 1910 Black Lager, and the Wetos Locos food cart offering tacos for purchase.

Even Stevens Sandwiches and Idaho Gives
Rock out to music from Bobbie Blue from 7pm to 9pm at Even Stevens Sandwiches on Bannock Street. You’ll get to sip Powderhaus Brewing tasters from 6 to 8pm, while deciding which Idaho charity you want to support for Idaho Gives day. Sounds like fun to us!
